“The words ‘I am’ are potent words; be careful what you hitch them to. The thing you’re claiming has a way of reaching back out and claiming you.” ~A.L. Kitselman

Gratitude practices aren’t really my thing…I am practices are.

Someone once told me, “you can only see the goodness in others you first see in yourself”

Those words were life-changing for me. It made me realize how foundational self-love was to loving others.

While gratitude practices are obviously important, I have adopted an “I am” practice instead.

Here are a few of mine to inspire you:

I am strong.

I am a truth-teller.

I am a healer.

I am beautiful.

I am a leader.

Here are some tips to getting started:

  1. Buy a new notebook & start a practice: Buy a new notebook and begin doodling your favorite “I am” statements. Start by drawing some each morning. Use colored pencils, markers or whatever makes you feel the most creative.
    Put your statements somewhere visible:
  2. Put your “I am” statements somewhere you regularly see them. I put mine in my car cup holder so I see it every morning and when I’m driving to meetings.

“I am” signing off,
